Frequently Asked Questions-

·      What can I expect in the first session? Do I need to prepare?

Before our first session, I will send you a invitation to Simple Practice to create a client portal. I ask that all client paperwork be completed on Simple Practice before our first session. During our first session, I will orient you to the therapy process. I will answer any questions you have during this session. In the first three sessions, I will be asking questions about what brought you to therapy, overall health, social background, and past therapy experiences.

·      How long is a session and how long will therapy last?

A session is 50 minutes long and I have a 48-hour cancellation policy. If you don't cancel or reschedule within that window you will be charged for the full session.

I have a long-term therapy process. Just like working out and taking care of our physical bodies, taking care of our brains and mental health is just as important. I am a holistic therapist and believe in the mind-body connection. Stress, anxiety, and depression will harm your body and overall health. However, for the first three months, I recommend weekly sessions. After the first three months, if you are feeling progress in your therapeutic goals we can move to bi-weekly. Monthly sessions are usually used for maintenance or check-ins. I typically do monthly sessions after seeing a client for a while and establishing they are doing well!

·      Do I accept Insurance?

I accept Aetna and Optum as your primary insurance through Alma. https://secure.helloalma.com/providers/kathryn-bukhair/#What-youll-pay

If you choose Private Pay, a superbill can be provided if your insurance offers reimbursement. I can coach you on the language they can use to get the most out of your reimbursement. I suggest you check with your insurance about coverage for therapy.

 Try asking the following questions:

·      Do I have coverage for therapy services?

·      Does my insurance cover out-of-network therapist providers? If so, at what rate (ask specifically about rates for an LPC provider)?

·      Do I have an annual deductible? If so, how much of that have I met?

  ·Do I offer a free consultation?

I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation for new clients. This is an opportunity to determine if we would be a good fit and to ask/answer any questions you might have.

·      What if we find during the consultation that we are just not a good fit for one another?

If I end up not being a good fit for you, your time is not wasted. Since I will know what you are looking for in a therapist, after our consultation, I will confidentially reach out to other therapists who have openings and find referrals for you.

·      Do I give homework?

I offer homework between sessions if a client asks for it. Otherwise, I like to do all those activities together during our session time. Doing the activities together provides a deeper understanding and builds further trust.
